Mr. Smith is an experienced real estate acquisition and financing counselor and creative problem solver with 22 years of experience as an attorney, including six years serving as general counsel for a group of privately held companies. Mr. Smith’s love of real estate started by assisting his father, a Register of Deeds, in the deed room at an early age. Mr. Smith continued his practical education in real estate by working for a survey company in Northern Michigan and learning the basics on conducting surveys and converting the data in CAD/CAM into a survey map. Mr. Smith then attended Wayne State University obtaining a degree in History and Wayne State Law School to earn his J.D. in 1998. After Law School graduation, Mr. Smith worked as an attorney, with a focus in real estate, in and around the Detroit area for ten years. During that time, Mr. Smith handled a broad spectrum of real estate matters from title and residential closing work to multi-million dollar financing and litigation. In 2008, Mr. Smith moved to Kentucky to serve as General Counsel for an international company. As General Counsel, Mr. Smith (i) lead the acquisition, sale and financing of forty-three distinct entities and properties, spanning seven countries and three continents during the height of the global recession, with a transaction value of over Eight Hundred Million Dollars, and (ii) established, developed and nurtured relationships with multiple sources of funding including, but not limited to, equity investors, bank officers and investment bankers. In 2015, Mr. Smith established the law firm of Smith, O’Toole & Brooke with offices in Lexington, KY. During this time, Mr. Smith has closed thousands of residential transactions and several commercial transactions as well as litigated dozens of real estate issues, including, but not limited to, boundary disputes, title issues, probate matters and property loss issues. Mr. Smith moved to Melbourne, Florida in late 2020 and has established a Jett Title branch location there. Mr. Smith is a licensed Florida title agent.

About Kathy

Kathy was born and raised in Southern California, and she lived in Northern California until her move to Georgetown, Kentucky in 2006. Kathy was a Real Estate Broker since 1986 in California and then continued her career within the title and escrow industry.

Kathy has a daughter, son-in-law and two amazing grandchildren which of course is why she moved to Kentucky, her forever home.

She enjoys reading, gardening, walking, watching all sports (of course an avid UK fan), playing with her dog and spending time with her grandkids.

Madison is a home owner and enjoyed the purchasing experience and looks forward to working behind the scenes helping people have a great experience purchasing their home. When she is not work, she loves going on walks, attending workout classes and spending time laughing with family and friends.
